Pag 272…The company brand remained essentially the same despite the fact that management changed several times over the years, so the Soleils initialed their products exclusively with the “Soleil” brand name. François Soleil (?-1846) began building scientific instruments at the end of the 18th century. His name is connected with Lighthouse Échelon lenses in collaboration with the famous physicist Augustin Jean Fresnel (1788-1827). With him Soleil completed many lenses for lighthouse and in 1821 a polyzonal lens with a 76 cm. diameter.
